Description: Rare 1951 Monte Irvin autographed New York Giants professional model road jersey. Gray flannel jersey has "New York" lettered across the front and player number "20" on back. The team name is a replacement (outline of Minor League affiliate "Minneapolis" is visible below) as is the National League Anniversary patch on left sleeve (the patch is a period example). "MacGregor Goldsmith" tag appears in the collar noting size ("44") and an embroidered strip tag below reads "Irvin 20." A "Set 1 1951" flag is on the inside front tail. Signed "My game used 1951 jersey, Monte Irvin" in black marker rating 8 out of 10. Outstanding display value and in fine overall condition with some light evident usage and wash wear. There is a small repair, expertly done, just below the "EW" in team name on front. Irvin played with the Giants from 1949-1955 after finding immense success in both the Negro and Mexican Leagues. In that time he helped lead the team to a pair of National League titles and a World Series Championship in 1954. His number "20" has been retired by the Franchise. Exceedingly rare with this being one of perhaps two or three Irvin jerseys known.
