Description: Unique 1927 Babe Ruth photographic "60 home runs" original artwork display (Ruth Apartment Photo Match). Large format piece is the original artwork from which several similar display pieces are known to have been created. At the center is a choice large format sepia toned 12"x17" period photograph of Ruth with bat in hand. This is mounted to a larger (approximately 25.5"x40") backing on which the year "1927" and Ruth's "60" home run total have been hand lettered along with a baseball representing each home run with the number, date, opponent, and pitcher noted. Outstanding display value given the large size and subject matter with some scattered staining and discoloration along with some areas of other wear all of which could be improved with conservation if so desired. This particular original display piece was prominently displayed within the Ruth apartment in New York City as evidenced by the image within this catalogue. Matted and framed in modern era frame.
