Lot Number: 219

Description: 1927 Babe Ruth 60 Home Run photographic display piece. Oversized 17"x16" photographic composite display is one of the more iconic Ruth related pieces of the period with the offered example having been retained within the Ruth Family collection. The composite format display features an illustrative rendering of baseballs with the names of pitcher/teams corresponding to each of Babe's 60 home runs. Positioned at the center is a beautiful 8"x11" sepia tone original photograph of Babe Ruth in batting pose with a photographic rendering of a 1927 signature and inscription, "To A Real Pal and Friend From Babe Ruth Dec. 15 1927". The majority of the signature and inscription has been printed within the image while some portions appear to have been hand written or hand inscribed, in part. There is an area of the inscription which has been masked by period photographic ink and possibly indicative that this example was created for promotional use of some sort. Overall display is very strong and the lot includes a modern copy of a period photo picturing this very display on the wall of Juanita Jennings Ellias' home. Includes letter of provenance from the Ruth family: EX-MT
