Description: Red Ruffing New York Yankees professional model hat c.1945-46. Rare period hat as issued by the team remains in outstanding overall condition with perhaps a touch of light usage and age related wear. Fully intact white leather band remains supple and has "7 1/2 C Ruffing" size and player name stitched in. To the left is a proper "Spalding" manufacturer's tag. After a (13) year stretch with the Yankees from 1930-1942 Ruffing took time off to serve a non-combat role in the armed forces before returning for the 1945 and 46 seasons. He retired as and remains the winningest right handed pitcher in Franchise history and played on (6) of their World Series Championship teams.
