Lot Number: 115

Description: Scarce and possibly unique 1915 World Series scorecard (Babe Ruth's First World Series). Original cardboard scorecard (blank backed) as issued for the 1915 World Series between the Phillies and Red Sox, has printed lineups and displaying as partially scored. Players listed include Tris Speaker, Joe Wood, Harry Hooper, G.C. Alexander, Dave Bancroft, and Babe Ruth. The overall size measures 4"x4 1/2" having a vertical center fold line. Few small stains and creases on front with some partial paper residue on the verso from previous adhesion. Partially scored in blue ink for three players denoting its use for games #3 and #4 played in Boston. Based on the categories listed of runs and hits this may well have been some type of formally issued press scorecard or, perhaps, a gambling related card of some sort. Interesting and desirable piece relating to Babe Ruth's first World Series: VG
