Description: Lot of (3) John Updike related books from Ted Williams personal library including presentational "Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu". 1977 printing of the classic feature article "Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu" by John Updike. Cased hard cover presentational rendering of the classic 1960 article as written by Updike for the New Yorker Magazine chronicling the epic final game of Ted Williams' career. The article includes the classic line describing Williams reluctance to acknowledge the Boston fans, "The papers said that the other players, and even the umpires on the field, begged him to come out and acknowledge us in some way, but he refused. Gods do not answer letters." Signed by author John Updike on the final page with presentational designation as being Ted Williams personal copy: EX-MT; 1965 "Assorted Prose" by John Updike inscribed to Ted Williams on interior cover page by two acquaintances and signed by author John Updike: VG-EX; 1965 "Assorted Prose" by John Updike.
