Description: Lot of (3) baseball related books from Ted Williams personal library with inscriptions from May Williams, Ted's mother. Trio of hard cover baseball related volumes each having endearing inscriptions as written to Ted Williams by his mother, May Williams. Includes: 1947 "Babe Ruth" by Tom Meany. Missing dust cover, interior cover page is inscribed, "To you my dearest son Ted Williams, May Williams-mother Aug. 24, 1948". Williams' reverence for Babe Ruth is clearly known and interestingly the offered book is dated and sent to Ted by his mother only several days after Ruth's passing: EX; 1947 "Baseball's Hall of Fame" by Ken Smith. Missing dust cover, interior cover page is inscribed, "To you my dearest lovely son Ted Williams, Your mother-May Williams- Aug. 24, 1948". Possibly inferring Ted's ultimate destination by the title and content of the book: EX; and 1950 "Ted Williams" by Arthur Sampson. Missing dust jacket, inscribed and signed on the two interior cover pages with lengthy content as intended for May Williams' father (Paul) and mother (Natalie). Content reads as follows: "Sunday May 7th Thru you & my Precious Father Paul God bless us with a Wonderful Famous son, a second "Babe Ruth". Whom he loved & admired Your oldest daughter May. San Diego, Cal. To My Precious lovely beautiful adorable Good, Godly, Charming Christian Mother Natalie from Your oldest daughter May Williams. Envoy Salvation Army and Captain and worker in The Lord's work over 40 years-This is precious mother-Your grandson: Precious good and famous. You have been like an Angel from Heaven to us all. God Bless you precious Goldy mother May Williams." Poignant inscription with glowing pride for her son who was well on his way to baseball immortality: VG-EX.
