Description: 1919 World Series program (at Cincinnati). Perhaps the most storied World Series ever played, the 1919 contest pitted the heavily favored Chicago White Sox against the Cincinnati Reds. Although the Series stretched to (8) games, many had no doubt who would win; (8) Chicago players had conspired with outside gamblers to throw games for money. "The Fix" left an indelible mark on baseball's history and ended the careers of some of the greatest players of the era. Original program issued for game played at Redland Field, neatly scored in ink for Game (2) which was played on October 2. Moderate soiling throughout covers, which display scattered wrinkling and corner/edge wear. Bound edge has been professionally restored/reinforced and staples have been replaced. Additional work has been done to repair several other flaws. Interior pages show a hint of water damage at right front and there are a series of pencil check marks/arrows related to the players: VG with note to restoration
