Description: Significant 1952 Robin Roberts Player of the Year Award. Roberts' 1952 season was truly one for the ages. Although Robin had already gained a reputation as a tireless ace of the Phillies pitching staff he clearly took it to another level for the 1952 season. The statistics are literally staggering. Roberts led both leagues with 28 wins, 330 innings pitched, and an incredible 30 complete games. In an era where the game's greatest pitchers are considered to be exceptionally durable when they complete six innings the offered award provides a fine perspective as to the quality of Roberts pitching abilities. A further testament to the importance of the offered award is due to the individuals who Roberts eclipsed during baseball's golden era to win the honor for 1952. Names such as Musial, Robinson, Campanella, Ford, and Berra. The award certificate itself measures 14"x16" matted and framed with hand colored appointments. Signed at the bottom by The Sporting News Publisher, Spink. Includes letter of provenance from the Roberts family: NM
