Description: 1930s Fairbanks weigh-in scale attributed to Grand Olympic Auditorium. The Grand Olympic Auditorium opened in Los Angeles in 1925 and in the decades that followed, became one of the most storied boxing venues in history. More than 100 Championship fights took place there, and in more recent times, the film Rocky used it as a backdrop. The offered scale was obtained by our consignor from the widow of a former employee and is believed to have been used as a their weigh in scale for many decades. Substantial Fairbanks wheeled base scale has been beautifully restored with wooden sections done in Tiger Palm Mahogany. Stands 59" tall with a footprint of approximately 33"x20". In approximate working order. Exhibits scattered wear typical for the age and likely level of use with most have been cleaned during restoration. Few small scuff marks to wooden section: EX/MT
