Official Charles Feeney NL baseball attributed to have been hit by Pete Rose for his record setting 3,053rd career single besting the previous mark held by Ty Cobb. The ball shows evident game soiling and use with calligraphy black ink titling, “July 27, 1984 Expos-6 Phillies-1 In the 7th inning Pete Rose hit this ball off Steve Carlton for the 3,053rd single of his career, breaking Ty Cobb’s major league record.” And is signed by ‘Lamb who was presumably the artist. Rose has also signed the side panel of the ball in black sharpie. The titling on the baseball is identical in format and artist to the matching bat used to hit the record single which was previously sold at auction. A xerox copy of the Rose signed 3,053rd game bat letter is included with this baseball for supportive evidence. One of the more notable milestone baseballs from Rose’s march towards Cobb’s career mark of 4,192 base hits which Pete would eventually eclipse.
