Description:Fascinating archive related to Lou Gehrig family history (range PR/GD-EX) Interesting assortment of material related to the earliest day in which the relatives of Lou Gehrig had immigrated to America as discovered in the Louisville, KY area in which they had roots. Information dates as far back as 1844 however majority of pieces are from later time period but offer recorded information. A number of autograph books are from the youth of a cousin named Edna whom it appears compiled/saved the material. Included is a 1939 handwritten letter from Edna to Lou in which she relays some family history in telling of her relation and requests an autograph (no Gehrig sigantures are included). Also of note is a large cabinet style photograph which presumably pictures a number of his distant relatives and a notebook/scrapbook pertaining to his career as assembled in the period.
