Description: Pair of 1950s Gene Kelly Philadelphia Phillies Foul Ball themed hand-painted baseballs (EX/MT).Both are fully painted W.Giles NL baseballs attributed to being foul balls caught by Gene Kelly while in the press box. One has the date "Thursday April 29, 1954" on the sweet spot and a side panel reads "Gene catches foul hit by Earl Torgeson as Roberts pitches a one hitter against the Milwaukee Braves. Catches it on the fly like picking cherries." Each of the other side panels is fully painted and displays: a caricature Gene Kelly catching a foul ball, Phillies hat logo; and the baseball playing field with the Phillies starting lineup's last names on it; The other ball has the date "Wednesday June 15, 1955" on the sweet spot and a side panel reads "As the Phillies pitchers pitch their second shutout of the year - Gene reaches out and catches a foul ball. The Phils beat Milwaukee Braves 4-0. Played in Milwaukee, Wisconsin". The side panels display: a caricature Gene Kelly in the press box with "Here comes a foul ball back here. Whoops I caught it." inscription, a drawing of beehive and flowers with "Kelly was as busy as a bee - still had time to catch foul ball" inscription, and the baseball playing field with the Phillies starting lineup's last names on it. Both display as EX/MT.
