Description: Pioneer Base Ball Club medallion by J.A. Bolen, c.1861 (VG/EX). Early baseball themed medallion measures just over 1" in diameter. It believed that (125) or fewer were produced in the period. One side features a batter likeness with "Pioneer Base Ball Club" lettered around the edge. "J.A.Bolen" mark appears at the bottom. Opposite has their 1858 date of founding and notes their use of Hampden Park as home grounds. Surfaces display some mild handling and age related wear. One of the earliest baseball related pieces produced at this level of quality: VG/EX ($1,000-$2,000)
