Description: 1971 Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew telegrams to Willie Mays with Mays signed baseball (Telegram FR/GD, Ball EX/MT) May 6, 1971 dated (2) page Western Union telegram sent to Willie Mays by then President Richard Nixon. Content reads in part, "Willie Maysâ?¦As one of your staunchest admirers, I especially regret that I cannot be there personally as you are honoredâ?¦although you are being honored for twenty seasons, you have more than proved yourself a man for all season for citizens of every age and walk of life...I send you my warmest congratulations on a proud milestone that celebrates a continuing contribution to one of the most brilliant chapters in American sports history, Richard Nixon." Scattered wear includes fold lines, wrinkles, and staple holes to upper left of both pages. An additional telegram from Nixon's Vice President Spiro Agnew is included. Also includes toned Rawlings L.Coleman ONL baseball signed in ink rating 8/9 out of 10 (Willie Mays Authentic Signature sticker affixed) and certificate of provenance from the Willie Mays Collection: Telegram FR/GD, Ball EX/MT ($500-$750)
