Description: January 1983 Steve Garvey San Diego Padres payroll check (EX) January 17, 1983 dated Padres team issued check was written to Steve Garvey for over $330,000. It was presumably the first installment of a then newsworthy contract he had signed with the club after departing Los Angles.
