Description: 1956 college basketball all-star team photograph with Bill Russell (VG framed). Period sepia toned photograph showing members of the West All-Star Team which played a series of exhibition games against the Harlem Globetrotters. The photo originates from the Tommy Heinsohn collection. An April 1, 1956 newspaper article found online relays that Tommy Heinsohn has originally been slated to take part but was one of several players "banned" under suspicion of "intended professionalism" (presumably meaning that he had already been in talks with an NBA team). Framed to 12.25"x16", with visible wear including scattered creases and wrinkles. Includes a previous auction's letter of provenance from the Heinsohn Family: VG 2100000354757Final Bid: $244.00
