Description: Rare c. late 1930s Frank Hayes autographed photo by George Burke, image used for 1939 Play Ball card (Sig. NM). 8"x10" photograph of Hayes with the Philadelphia Athletics has been signed in blue ink and personalized to fellow Major League ballplayer Roy Cullenbine: "To Roy, a great hitter and keep (surging?) Sincerely Frank Hayes," with signature rating 7/8 out of 10. Photo has a typed identifier on the reverse, along with official George Burke (Chicago) stamping. Hayes, who played with the Athletics, Red Sox and other teams in a career from 1933-1947, died an untimely death in 1955 at the age of 40. Round-corner photo, which was used as the image for Hayes' 1939 Play Ball #108 card (included), exhibits some light wrinkles but remains in outstanding overall display condition. Photo: VG/EX.
