Description: Rare set of (3) Rittgers baseball figures with players and umpire, c. 1939 (GD-VG/EX). Trio of comical cast figures features two players arguing with an umpire are rarely found prior to 1940. Each has an "L.R. 1939" impressed mark near the foot, as crafted by the Lafayette Rittgers Studio of Chicago. Both of the player figures and umpire have some chipping/loss, and the umpire is also missing a small portion of the brim of the cap. Each also has tape added to the underside of the feet, presumably for traction. Players: VG/EX; Umpire: GD.Final Bid: $28.00
