Description: John L. Sullivan vs. Jem Smith souvenir clay pipe, c.1887 (EX/MT). Approx. 5" long pipe with embossed boxers on each side of the bowl. Sullivan's name is above one boxer, and Smith's name is above the other. Likely produced as a promotion for a highly anticipated fight between Sullivan and Smith, but after a 106-round draw between Smith and Jake Kilrain, the two never fought. Minor surface wear: EX/MT
