Lot 99

Description: Interesting lot of early c.1900s-10s mostly New York Giants related photography attributed to the Red Ames collection (GD-VG) Total of (7) pieces which nearly all have a small handwritten notation on the back indicating that the pieces either picture Red Ames and/or originate from the Red Ames collection. All are from a dedicated collector of photography who would often make it a point to purchase images from player collections/estates and while it cannot be stated with 100% certainty that these pieces originate with Ames we have no reason to believe that they did not. Includes sepia toned image on 4"x5" mount which shows Ames and Dummy Taylor in New York Giants uniforms/sweaters; sepia image on 5"x6" mount showing Ames in pitching follow through while a member of the New York Giants (1907 date written on back); undated image on 5"x7.5" mount showing Ames and (2) Giants team mates (all in uniform); portrait photo on 5"x7" mount of a young man in street clothes which is identified on back as showing Ames c.1900, portrait photo on 5.25"x7.5" mount which is identified on back as showing Admiral Schlei with notation that it is from the Ames Collection, and 4.75"x6" photo identified as showing Frank Bowerman (no Ames collection notation) (we can not state with certainty that these players are the people shown); and similar period image on 7"x9" mount which is identified on back as showing Mike Donlin as a member of Cincinnati in 1903 (with Ames Collection notation) and there are notations on front stating it was taken in August, GA. Varying degrees/types of wear throughout with all pieces retaining very good eye appeal/display value: GD-VG ($500-$1,000)
