Description: August 22, 1926 "First Sunday Game Shibe Park" attributed baseball from the Doc Ebbling Collection (EX) Red and blue stitched Reach B.Johnson Official American League baseball originates directly from the Estate of Philadelphia Athletics trainer E.E. "Doc" Ebbling. A pair of vintage fountain notations written in the period read "First Sunday Game Shibe Park Aug. 22d 1926 E.E.E." and "Athletics 3-2 Chicago." Ball shows wear related to both use and age. Originally sold at auction many years ago (by Hunt Auctions) along with other material from the Ebbling Estate however the Family letter of provenance has been misplaced. It should be noted that there is a minor discrepancy related to the dating of the ball (which is believed to have gone into production in 1927 based on what is known of the markings) and the date written on: EXFinal Bid: $943.00
