Description:Significant Roberto Clemente 3,000th Hit presentational piece with Three Rivers Stadium dirt (see description) Important piece was awarded to Roberto Clemente to commemorate his 3,000th hit. In an included 8"x10" photograph he can be seen on field at Three Rivers Stadium with the award in it's original form. Unfortunately over time there has been a loss of some pieces of the award and what remains includes a 10"x13.5" wooden plaque and a 16"x13" wooden base. Spanish language text on the plaque translates (roughly) to "...To Roberto Clemente, favorite son of this blessed land of puerto rico and the san anton de carolina neighborhood at the historical moment of his 3,000 hits..." A metal placard affixed to the front of the base reads "Roberto Clemente Mejor Pelotero Del Mundo" (best player in the world). A portion of the original dirt and grass as saved by the Clemente Family is included. The award is clearly shown, in it's original state, in the included photo and a skilled craftsman could surely restore it to nearly its' original state. Includes certificate of provenance from the Clemente Family: see description
