Description: Important Mark Pavelich 1980 "Miracle on Ice" U.S. Olympic Hockey Team 10k Gold Championship Ring (EX/MT-NM) This amazing piece of jewelry is the original 1980 Olympic Hockey ring awarded to forward Mark Pavelich as a member of the 1980 Miracle on Ice USA Olympic Hockey team following their stunning victory of the Gold Medal in Lake Placid, New York. Widely considered one of the Greatest Moments in American sports history, the United States Olympic team+s victory over the heavily favored Soviet Hockey Team in the semi-final game dubbed -The Miracle on Ice,+ by a score of 4-3, catapulted them into the gold medal round where they beat Finland for the "Gold" by the score 4-2. While each USA Olympic hockey team member received a gold medal as does every other Olympic event winner in public presentation ceremonies throughout the Games; the Olympic Hockey team was awarded these Championship Rings in a private ceremony representing the kinship of their monumental triumph as a team during the -Miracle+ Olympics. Blue background on the top face has (5) diamonds inset and "U.S.A. Olympic Hockey Gold Medalist" is lettered around the edge. On one shank is the 1980 Olympic logo along with game scores; opposite has the name "Pavelich" and his number "16." Marked "Balfour 10K" on the interior band which is also engraved "Miracle On Ice."
