Description: 1939 Chicago Cubs "#1 Cub Fan" presentational belt buckle from Gabby Hartnett with related material (EX) Presentational piece was given by Gabby Hartnett, then Manager of the Chicago Cubs, to the founder of his fan club at an August 21, 1939 banquet held in his honor which took place in Norwalk, Connecticut. Done in gold colored metal it has "#1 Cub Fan" lettered across the center in blue enameled font. Below is a raised relief of a bear cub with "Cubs" spelled out vertically across its' stomach. Year "1939" is noted on either side. "Norwalk" titling appears above the script engraved name, "George Bredice." Marked "1/20" on back with some light scattered wear. Includes an original ticket to the banquet which is done on heavy stock (3"x4") and shows some light toning and corner wear; 1965 Baseball Hall of Fame guest pass which has "George Bredice and party" typed in the bearer line; February 1966 dated letter on Hall of Fame stationary signed by Director Ken Smith which makes mention of both Bredice and Hartnett; and printout of portions of a 2012 newspaper article which details the relationship between Hartnett and Bredice whom also served as a batting practice/bullpen catcher for the Cubs on several occassions: EX ($500-$1,000)
