Description: 1948 Leaf football complete set of (98) cards (see description) Desirable early football set is seldom offered in complete form. This set offers nice eye appeal relative to what technical grade may indicate with most cards displaying crisp vibrant coloration. Varying degrees of wear throughout. Approx. (7) cards within low # series (1-49) have small pencil mark at lower back (mostly commons, keys as noted). With the exception of (2) cards (#s 87 and 98) all of the high numbers have evidence of prior mounting visible on back (viewed from the front, cards within this series display from GD-EX/MT, avg VG to VG/EX). A small number of cards are trimmed (keys as noted below). Low number commons range GD-VG/EX overall with a few lower and a few better. Keys (low number series): #1 Luckman (VG-VG/EX), 3 Turner (trimmed with EX-EX/MT appearance), 4 Walker (SGC 70 EX+), 6 Layne (EX OC), 13 Lujack (strong VG/EX-EX OC), 15 Justice (VG OC), 16 Pihos (strong VG/EX OC), 19 McAfee (SGC 30 GD, card has EX/MT-NM appearance but is OC with small pencil mark on back), 22 Van Buren (EX-EX/MT), 26 Waterfield (VG-VG/EX), 29 Trippi (strong EX appearance, possibly trimmed at one side), 34 Baugh (SGC 40 VG), 36 Dudley (VG), and 37 Connor (VG-VG/EX). Keys in high number series (#s 52, 53, 54, 73, and 91) display VG-VG/EX with note to mounting residue on back (#91 Hart trimmed) and #87 is PSA graded (NM 7).
