Description: Dennis Johnson Boston Celtics professional model jersey c.1983. White knit jersey retains "Celtics" team name across the front in green above the number "3". Back of the jersey has "Johnson" in applied green lettering above #3 in green. Medalist/Sand Knit tagging appears on the interior tail front (pre-1984 MacGregor merger) along with "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Boston Celtics" tagging. The "Johnson" lettering and #3 on the back of the jersey appear to be team executed changes with the lettering having several font styles. This indicates that the offered jersey may likely be one of the first shirts issued to Johnson as a member of the Celtics as he came to the team before the 1983/84 season (note the pre-1984 Sand Knit tagging). The jersey shows excellent use and wash wear. Johnson was one of the key members of the Celtics championship teams of the early to mid-1980s notable for his outstanding defensive skill.
