Description: Rare New Orleans Pelicans team cabinet photograph c.1880-90s. Composite arrangement 4"x5" image on its original 4 1/4"x6 1/2" mount pictures the New Orleans Pelicans of the Southern League. Players are pictured in vignette format wearing uniforms inclusive of the longtime Pelican Charles "Count" Campau. Stamped by the New Orleans photography studio in the margin of the mount. Image quality and contrast remains quite strong with a vertical crease (visible on back) and a small edge wrinkle on the front. Likely acquired by Eddie Boyle while at spring training in New Orleans with the Cincinnati Reds. First example of this particular image that we have encountered.
