Description: Lou Gehrig large format photograph by Louis Van Oeyen c.1935. Very fine 11"x14" black and white original image taken by noted photographer Louis Van Oeyen from a ground level vantage point pictures Lou Gehrig batting. Clarity and contrast are breathtaking with particular note to the fact that the photo is a live action shot. The reverse of the photo bears the period stamping, "Photo by L. Van Oeyen Cleveland, O" along with a period fountain pen notation, "May 10th 1935 An actual home run hit-over right field wall at Cleveland, Ohio". The notation appears to be in Van Oeyen's hand based on comparisons with other documented exemplars. Condition is nearly flawless with very few if any mentionable defects. This is the first offering of this large format image that we have encountered. Matted and framed:NM-NM/MT
