Description: Scarce 1914 Boston Garter Johnny Evers. Superb exemplar of one of the rarest cards from the highly elusive Boston Garter series. The card presents very well with outstanding color and fairly clean, crease-free surfaces. The corners show moderate even wear with very minor chipping at the bottom front edge and upper right edge on the reverse. Printed back is well centered. Close inspection reveals very subtle restoration to an apparent 3/4” line crease or blemish in the green background area at the left edge of the card parallel to Evers' knees. Slight inpainting is evident on the front as well as the corresponding area on the reverse. Two very small spots at the lower left edge show similar restoration. It must be noted that these areas are very discreet, having been performed with the utmost expertise and are reversible if so desired. This card is among only a handful of examples to have ever surfaced within the marketplace from a series that is widely revered for its unsurpassed combination of design and rarity. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only 1914 Boston garter Johnny Evers ever offered at public auction. Presents as VG-EX (With note to restoration): SGC Authentic
