Description: 1961 Whitey Ford "World Series Hero of the Year" award plaque. Large 22" tall plaque presented to Ford by the Chicago Chapter of the Baseball Writer's Association in honor of his MVP performance in the 1961 World Series. The mahogany plaque displays an image of Ford in Yankees uniform with a plastic sheath that has been signed by Whitey. Figural batsman at the bottom is missing its original bat and one segment of the floral garniture at the left is missing. Includes LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from Whitey Ford: EX
