Description: Whitey Ford single signed vintage Giles NL baseball with 1961 dated inscription. Toned and game used Giles NL baseball has a period blue ink inscription written in Ford's hand on a side panel, "14 Consecutive Wins 1961". The inscription is in reference to the portion of the 1961 season when Ford recorded 14 consecutive victories en route to a 25-4 mark. Because the baseball is from the National League, and Ford's win streak dates to the middle of the year, it is unclear why this particular ball was inscribed and not an AL ball that was used in the actual game. The ball is additionally signed (faintly) by Ford's daughter on a side panel and by Ford himself (at a later date) on another panel in blue ink.
