Description: Thurman Munson game worn New York Yankees hat c.1970s. Original New York Yankees classic navy blue hat worn by Thurman Munson in game play retains its original interlocked "NY" logo on the front. Interior headband retains its New Era Pro Model label along with a separate size flag tag (size has faded from age/use). "15" is written in vintage black marker. The hat shows tremendous use including perspiration toning to the interior headband and under the bill shown in appropriate 'waves' from wiping the forehead area. Heavy perspiration surface residue is also evident on the exterior back of the hat. Professional model game used player hats are easily the most challenging of all equipment pieces to authenticate given their obvious similarities to other hats. This Thurman Munson game worn hat is one of the more significant 1970s era player model hats with unimprovable provenance to have entered the public collecting arena.
