Lot Number: 255

Description: 1977 Thurman Munson New York Yankees World Series ring. Original ring presented to Thurman Munson for the 1977 Yankees World Championship. Top of the ring features "NY" logo on a blue field with (19) inset diamonds. "Yankees World Champions" raised lettering encircles the NY logo. One side panel has "Munson" nameplate with Yankees logo and 21st World Championship designation. The other side panel has "1977" date with a World Series trophy replica. Interior ring band is impressed with "Balfour 14K". Overall condition is very fine with some light general surface wear and some moderate scratching present under the ring band from use, which does not detract from the ring's presentation. Size 10. The 1977 series was the first Yankees World Championship since 1962, and will be forever remembered for Reggie Jackson's legendary performance in hitting three home runs in one game. Munson himself capped off another All-Star regular season with yet one more clutch performance in the World Series batting .320 with a home run. Without question, the most significant 1977 New York Yankees World Championship player ring to have ever been offered at public auction originating from the personal collection of the Yankees' Captain. Includes its original Balfour case: EX/MT-NM
