Description: Thurman Munson game worn baseball cleats c.1970s. Pair of Spot Bilt cleats as worn by Thurman Munson as a member of the New York Yankees. Black leather cleats with the Spot Bilt white logo striping on each side panel exhibit desirable heavy game use including surface wear, surface abrasions, interior soiling, and evident general wear appropriate to the catching position. Both cleats retain their original Spot Bilt tagging on the interior of the shoe tongue, which also has a vintage "15" written in black marker for Munson's uniform (one label is heavily faded). Although nearly impossible to definitively document specific game use, it is amazing to ponder the significant game play that the offered cleats may have seen. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions, color copy of a photo picturing Munson wearing a nearly identical cleat, and letter of provenance from Diana Munson: VG-EX
