Lot Number: 182

Description: 1976 All-Star Game Ceremonial baseball and related photographs. The 1976 All-Star game was played at Veteran's Stadium in Philadelphia before a huge crowd in celebration of the nation's bicentennial. President Gerald Ford was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The lot includes an unused Feeney NL baseball signed on a side panel by President Ford in black ink rating 9 out of 10; and a large format 13"x18" matted and framed color photograph of Thurman Munson, President Ford, Johnny Bench, and others incl. Comm. Bowie Kuhn standing along the fence at the 1976 All-Star game. Munson is pictured holding the offered baseball in his hand. Also included is a black and white 8"x10" photo picturing the President in the American League locker room with Munson and others. The photo is signed, "Gerald R. Ford" with pre-printed "To Thurman Munson, With Best Wishes" salutation. Based on the fact that the NL batted first, we believe the offered ball may have been thrown by the President to Thurman Munson (AL starting catcher) for the ceremonial first pitch. Very fine historical baseball with impeccable provenance. Includes LOA from JSA (autographs) and letter of provenance from Diana Munson: NM
