Description: Thurman Munson's Final New York Yankees player contract. Original multi-year contract issued to Munson for the 1978-1981 seasons with pay ranging between $317,500 and $417,500 per year. Three page foldout contract is signed on the back page by Munson, American League President L.MacPhail, and a Yankees executive. Additionally, Thurman Munson has signed a contract addendum clause on the same page in blue ink. Signatures range from 9 to 10 out of 10 including both Munson signatures which remain very bold. The offered document represents the final player contract ever issued to Munson by the New York Yankees due to his untimely passing in 1979. The contract also covers the 1978 season, which was one of the greatest in Munson's career and Yankees history. Behind Munson's leadership, the 1978 Yankees roared back from 14 1/2 games behind the Red Sox in July to end the season tied with Boston. The Yanks went on to a one game playoff victory behind the famed Bucky Dent home run and the rest is history. The contract includes its original cover letter on Yankees stationary. Rare signed contract from one of the most desirable players of the 1960-70s era. Includes LOA from JSA and a letter of provenance from Diana Munson: NM
