Lot Number: 354

Description: Multi signed baseball attributed to the 1933 World Series. Lightly clear coated and toned Harridge AL baseball (side stamped dating from 1931-34) ásigned by numerous star baseball players including Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, John J. McGraw, Frank Frisch, Joe Cronin, and Buck Herzog. Signatures range from 1-7 out of 10 including Ruth (5/6), Johnson (5), and Wagner (5). Bill Terry and Connie Mack are clubhouse signed. Additionally, "Franklin D. Roosevelt" is signed across the sweet spot of the ball. While the "signature" is certainly of the period, it appears to have been secretarially signed. The attribution to the 1933 World Series is based on several factors associated with the baseball including: 1) Roosevelt's name on the ball as he attended only three games while in office during 1931-34, two of which were opening day games played against the Red Sox and As, the other being the 1933 Series; á2) The large presence of several New York Giants and Washington Senators players including Bill Terry (mgr.) Joe Cronin (mgr.), J.Judge, and F.Frisch; and 3) The presence of Ruth, Wagner, Johnson, and McGraw.áIncludes LOA from James Spence Authentication and a reproduction photo of Roosevelt throwing out a first pitch at a game: Ball: VG-EX, Signatures: Range PR-EX/MT
