Description: Lot of (3) pieces of vintage baseball equipment used by Joe Wood c.1920-30s. Group of three pieces of vintage equipment used by Smoky Joe Wood as the Yale baseball coach c.1920-30s. Includes Rawlings catcher's mitt retaining its original buckle back with Rawlings label. Interior shows heavy use with "WOOD" printed in period ink at the top. The glove was used to warm up Yale pitchers in practices and during the games: VG-EX; Catcher's mask with round spitter style front. Missing a portion of its interior leather padding: GD-VG; and a Spalding "Hickory Fungo" baseball bat used by Joe Wood during Yale baseball practices. Bat shows evident use incl. barrel wear and a small repaired handle crack: VG-EX. Given the scarcity of Joe Wood Major League game used items, the offered grouping represents a unique opportunity to acquire period game equipment from a legendary player in both Red Sox and MLB history. Includes letter of provenance from the Wood family
