Description: Unique baseball figural letter opener c.1911. Early celluloid figural letter opener with an intricately decorated handle depicting a baseball player. The player is in full uniform with "Sox" lettering down the front likely dating the piece to the 1911 era as the Chicago White Sox wore a similar uniform style. The top retains its original celluloid ball shaped finial which is affixed to its original pencil bottom. Overall condition is remarkable given its original fragility with no cracking.
