Description: ***LATE ADDITION*** Significant 1959 Johnny Unitas Bert Bell Award presentational charm. Football shaped gold charm as presented to Johnny Unitas for the 1959 Bert Bell award as the Outstanding Professional Football Player in the United States. The football shaped charm measures just under 1" long with inlaid blue enamelwork on both side panels which reads, "Bert Bell Memorial Award 1959 Outstanding Professional Football Player in the United States" and "Presented to John Constantine Unitas Baltimore Colts". The 1959 Bert Bell Award was presented by the prestigious Maxwell Club in Philadelphia for the first time in 1959 to Johnny Unitas in recognition of the league's Most Valuable Player. Unitas would capture the award on two other occasions during his illustrious career. Very fine and important personal award piece being offered for the first time publicly.
