Description: Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig auto. baseball c.1927. Wilson "Boys League" model baseball signed by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Ruth signature is positioned on the sweet spot and rates 8 out of 10. Gehrig signed below Ruth on the adjacent side panel rating 7 out of 10 with some light abrasions to the "ehr". The ball was obtained in person at a barnstorming game played on Oct. 14, 1927 between the Celina and Lima teams (see program in Lot 1020). The ball itself had been mounted on a canvas lined pedestal and has some resulting adhesive residue and surface losses to the opposite sweet spot. The ball also has a few small holes from worm damage. Under magnification, it appears that both signatures had been enhanced to some degree in the period.
