Description: Joe DiMaggio handwritten speech with fine baseball content. Unlined page measures 7"x11" and features handwritten content by Joe DiMaggio with uncommon detail regarding his baseball career. The body of the speech includes excerpts that date to all periods of his career. Some examples include, "I'm grateful to my father who allowed me to play baseball for the simple reason that he made it possible for me to enjoy this experience tonight" and "...for the following 13 years that I played actively-our teams went on to win 10 pennants and 9 world championships. Now that, ladies and gentleman is my proudest achievement while wearing pinstripes." The sheet has typical fold lines from mailing but the writing remains dark and bold. The offered speech is the only substantive handwritten account of DiMaggio's career remembrances found within the collection.
