Lot Number: 136

Description: 1933 American League All-Star team auto. baseball.  Toned and lightly clear coated Harridge official AL ball signed by (14) members of the inaugural American League All-Star team, plus Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson, who was managing the Cleveland Indians at the time and attended the game, for a total of (15) signatures.  Includes Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, R. Ferrell, Grove, Dickey, Gomez, Lazzeri, Averill, Cronin, Hildebrand, Chapman, W. Ferrell, and Crowder.  Signatures are very strong in black fountain pen ink and range from 7-9 out of 10.  This is a fairly complete example of a very rare team ball, as there were only 18 players on the AL squad. Significantly it includes all of the key Hall of Famers and a very desirable Walter Johnson signature.  The historic game was played at Chicago's Comiskey Park with the American League defeating the National League by a score of 4-2 behind a home run from the 38 year-old Babe Ruth.  Includes LOA from James Spence Authentication. Ball: VG-EX, Signatures: EX/MT-NM
