Description: Scarce 1896 Pittsburgh Pirates team cabinet photograph. Imperial size 10 1/2"x13 1/2" image mounted on its original 15"x16" mount pictures the team posed in three rows in full uniform. Players are identified in period ink at the bottom margin of the mount incl. Beckely, Bierbauer, Stenzel, Donovan, Hastings, and a 34 year old player/manager by the name of Connie Mack. 1896 would be the final season of Mack's playing career; he then went on to manage until 1950, amassing an incredible 3,731 lifetime wins. The image itself retains fine contrast for its age and medium with an impressed stamp of photographer Wm. Bell at the bottom right corner. The original mount has some edge wear (not visible with matting) and some surface soiling which could certainly be cleaned of so desired. The photo itself also has some light surface soiling, which could be cleaned as well.
