Description: Babe Ruth Red Sox large format photograph c.1916. Very rare early image of Ruth standing with his wife Helen on a frozen Lake Winnepesaukee in New Hampshire around 1916. Young, thin, and wearing his Red Sox sweater, Babe Ruth has his arm around his wife, who is clearly overshadowed by her much larger husband. The image was taken by a family friend who became acquainted with the Ruths as they wintered at the Lake. Overall image size of 7"x10" is very uncommon for the era and is impressively presented in an archival matt and frame.
