Description:Unusual baseball pitcher's mound tamper c.1920-30's. Wonderful primitive baseball oddity which was used to flatten the pitcher's mound and/or, presumably, the area around home plate. Constructed with a 32" long "Manchester No.8" model bat made by Piper Bat Co. of New England, which has been attached to a hand carved, two piece wooden plinth, via a cast iron bracket and receptacle. Highly unusual and interesting piece of vintage baseball equipment: EX
