Description: Louisville Slugger Home Run Derby display piece c.1961. Thick stock 12" x 52" unused display piece issued by Louisville Slugger, charts the 1961 Mantle and Maris home run race to topple Babe Ruth's record of 61. Chart style display lists Ruth's totals for the month of August, 1927 and contains blank spaces to be filled in for Mantle and Maris as home runs are hit. Discovered in the H&B archives, the display remains in pristine original condition and includes two very rare paper inserts picturing Ruth, Mantle, and Maris. Both inserts detail the home run race and suggest placing the included display in a store window to chart the race. The offered inserts are the first that we have encountered.
