Description: Roberto Clemente Pittsburgh Pirates undershirt c.1959-61. Rawlings blend baseball undershirt of a grey body with black sleeves. Retains Rawlings tag inside the collar with size 42 (Clemente's jersey size). Back of the shirt has period "21" written in black laundry marker showing appropriate age and wash wear. The Pirates players wore this style of undershirt for many years with their vest style jersey design. Shirt exhibits evident usage including some areas of minor staining. The shirt originated from Robert Recker who was the Pirates batboy from 1959-1961 including the 1959 All-Star game and the 1960 World Series. Clemente gave the shirt to Mr. Recker to wear with his vest style jersey. Bobby Recker is visibly seated next to Clemente in the 1960 Pirates team issue photograph (a copy is included with the lot). Desirable and obscure piece of Clemente game worn apparel with impeccable provenance. Includes LOA from SCD Authentic and (2) letters or provenance from Robert Recker: EX
