Description: Significant Eric McNair 1934 U.S. All-Star Tour of Japan presentational album. Leather bound album that was presented to McNair and the other Tour members with content relating to the trip. Album reads right to left per Japanese custom and retains its very scarce original leather cover with Japanese characters. Interior includes team autographed sheets for both the American and Japanese teams with beautiful ink signatures. U.S. players include Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Mack, Gomez, Berg, Gehringer, and Averill. Signatures range from 9-10 out of 10. Japanese players have signed on two different pages incl. Jimmy Horio who signed in English and Japanese. Remainder of the book contains a total of (23) original images taken during the Tour. Each photo measures 9"x11" and are mounted to cabinet mount stock album pages. Subjects include Ruth, U.S./Japanese teams, Gehrig, Mack, stadium views, and Ocean liner views. A few of the images have some creasing or corner tears. One image has a horizontal tear that has separated into two pieces but is complete. The original leather cover has some abrasions to the leather and has become loose at the spine. One of only a handful of these treasured albums extant and among them the McNair album has been the only example that we have handled that remains in its original condition including the covers. Offered publicly for the first time directly from the McNair family.
